WALK INTO THE SEA

we finally have the pleasure to give to you our debut album entitled…

walk into the sea

Today on the first of October 2010, you can head straight over to our bandcamp page to purchase ‘a truly great album‘ * which although may seem along time comming, will hopefully be worth your wait. The album can be purchased in digital format with immediate download or you can purchase the special physical copy. Never wanting to keep within the confines we made a special concertina book to hold our CD with some beautiful illustration. The physical copy also comes with an immediate digital download complete with artwork and embedded lyrics so you don’t have to wait for the actual CD to arrive to start enjoying the music! The download will contain both sides of the booklet artwork combined into one lovely epic landscape piece. Don’t wait… to get your copy click straight to our bandcamp site:

heliopause.bandcamp.com

For all of you who came to our shows over the last two weeks, thank you so so much for your support and I hope you had as much fun as we had. If you bought an early copy of the album at the shows I hope you are enjoying it and spread this email to your friends to go to the site and check it out!

We have Will Scobie to thank for the artwork. He is a very talented Brighton illustrator who you can find more of at reveriecreate.co.uk. Check him out. I’ll also quickly mention Ripe Digital who did a great job of printing the artwork out for us!

I also will not forget all the beautifully talented musicians who performed on our album, mainly speaking of Albrecht’s Pencil, a band with whom we have performed a few special shows with over the last year or so. Amazingly talented people and we are so pleased they are part of this. Other musicians include our previous band member Michael Kinloch who came back with his trusty trombone on The Moon & Sixpence. He is now playing with Not Squares who are about to release their debut album too. Another old member is Thérèse McKenna who, although sadly left the band to persue her journalist career in Dublin, managed to come back for her beautiful vocal and flute action on Dead Ends and The Moon & Sixpence. Joel Cathcart, Laura McGrogan and Fionn Byrne make up Albrecht’s Pencil and it has been only a pleasure having you on our album (The Let Go, Just This Once, Dead Ends). Two more… Grace McMacken from the ‘ole Cutaways sings on Moment of Recognition and Amy Millar who took our photos on the snow also plays musical saw on Save For Me. Thanks so much to you all !

So direct yourself and your mates to heliopause.bandcamp.com and get yourself a lovely copy of the album and enjoy it!!!

Stay in touch!

Big apologies to TRANS and everyone and we will see you again in Belfast soon!

BBC 6 Music Petition

As you are aware, the BBC have planned cuts, including 2 radio stations and halving their web presence. I’m sure you have heard much about it in the media recently. I want to ask those who haven’t already to join us and the thousands of others voicing their disagreement with this, particularly against the closure of BBC 6 Music who has played our music in the past.

We have personally felt the good effects of 6 Music and how this station not only provides music and content of interest that cannot be found elsewhere, but it has helped bands like ourselves get national exposure. It was this station which first aired our track ‘Mon Peu Rimbaud’ and subsequently we were asked to perform our first London show from this. It is from shows like Tom Robinson’s, who choose and play unsigned acts which give us opportunities we would not get other national stations.

Please take a couple of minutes to sign the petition and join around 40,000 others in voicing your disagreement wth the cuts. The BBC say they would re-think if there was “massive public concern”. If we don’t act, then we lose more of our BBC services.

THE PETITION WILL BE HANDED IN ON TUESDAY 25TH MAY SO DON’T HESITIATE! CLICK THE LINK NOW.

remember the palm house?…

We got a lovely email from Catherine Loftis who sent links to some footage she took at our gig at the Palm House in the Botanic Gardens in Belfast last year. It brings back great memories of the wonderful gig with Albrecht’s Pencil in the stunning venue. There are two clips: Moment of Recognition
